Decra® lightweight steel tiles are horizontally fixed to the roof battens using multiple DECRA fasteners, predominantly at 90˚ angle to wind-lift forces, making them highly secure during strong winds. This unique fixing method allows the fastening material to directly face the wind uplift forces. These special fasteners are also designed to support and hold DECRA tiles in place.
The majority of clay or concrete tiles are not fastened directly to the roof framework. Because Decra® interlocking steel tiles are fixed horizontally, each with eight or more separate fasteners, wind shear is virtually eliminated. Other roofing products rely on vertical fixing methods that are
prone to lifting in high winds.
